The MR Internship Program hosts ongoing internships during the fall and spring seasons, as well as winter and summer internships geared toward college and university students and recent graduates. The MR Internship Program has a work-study structure — interns work with and are mentored by MR staff and, in exchange, receive access to MR classes and select workshops.

The Internship Program offers a range of internship positions for artists and arts workers ages 18 and up. Movement Research is equipped to work with students who are seeking credits through a college program or course. Read on for details on the positions, openings, and how to apply.

[Hybrid] Program & Events Internship

This internship position is a 6-month commitment. Generally, the Programs Team operates on a Fall/Winter season (Sept–Feb) and Spring/Summer season (Mar–Aug), however we do accept applications throughout the year. The minimum weekly commitment is between 8-12 hours per week. The schedule will be determined in collaboration with MR staff.

The Programs & Events Interns work closely with the Programs and Events Manager and Associates to organize and implement Movement Research’s artist programs and events. The primary duty is to act as class registrars and studio attendants as part of the implementation of Movement Research classes and workshops, including the MELT workshop series. Programs & Events Interns can expect a fairly consistent schedule in coordination with Movement Research’s ongoing classes and workshop schedule. This position works in-person, with limited opportunity for remote work.

When applying, please share with us your interest in MR classes and faculty, as well as your anticipated weekly schedule for the Spring/Summer 2024. The Programs & Events Internship also has the opportunity to support events such as GPS Chats, Studies Projects, and the Movement Research at the Judson Church performance series in a front of house capacity.

This workshop follows a work exchange format in that interns are able to take most MR classes for free in exchange for their hours worked. MR is not able to provide internship stipends at this time.

The internship is open to all those interested in engaging with MR Classes, Workshops, and Events as part of the Programs Team, and encourage students in degree-seeking programs to apply for course credit,

Candidates should have experience with Zoom, Google Docs and/or Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as strong organizational skills, punctuality, and attention to detail. As this is a public-facing role, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of Filemaker Pro or experience with databases is not required but helpful.

Interviews will take place in mid-August for internships starting in the Fall, and mid-December for internships starting in the Spring. Training typically begins in the weeks prior to the internship start dates. Applications are also accepted on a rolling basis.

To apply, submit a cover letter and resume reflecting relevant experience as well as your anticipated weekly availability and desired start date to internship@movementresearch.org. Please add the following in the subject line: “FULL NAME. Programs & Events Internship Application.”
