Tatiana Borchetta is a dancer and aspiring writer originally from Italy and Lebanon. Although growing up she strictly trained in ballet, she has shifted to modern, post-modern, contemporary, and jazz dance since moving to New York City. She is currently a fourth-year student at Marymount Manhattan College, pursuing a B.A in Dance with a Minor in Philosophy Her interests lie at the intersection of politics and aesthetics with a focus on the interplay between the body and power structures. She seeks to research dance beyond the performative context, and how it operates within greater systems of power (class, sex, gender, and race), notably through the theoretical investigation of historical and structural forces that ideologically inform choreography, dance (and its perception), dance training/education, and the relationship between performer and spectator. After graduating, she plans on performing before going back to graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in Philosophy with specialization in aesthetics.
