Renegade Performance Group (RPG) director André M. Zachery will lead a week-long intensive that will unpack several movement structures found in choreographies of the RPG Afrofuturism Series. The first half of the class will be based in the Physical Propulsion modalities of Flying Low floor work, Bartenieff principles and capoeira. The second half of the class will be dedicated to understanding and developing "futuring actions" based in Afrofuturism as a realm to unpack one's own narrative through the speculative, folkloric and actual. Collectively the cohort will re-examine movement from repertory of RPG by delving into the symbolism, code and dynamic embedded in the movement. Over the course of the week we will, together, bring forth people's own futuring actions from their respective backgrounds, landscapes, identities and communities.
