Workshop description:

In this course, we will connect with our inner Urban Shamanism - exploring what it’s like to be a part of our 21 century communities while bringing elements of nature back into our everyday lives. By feeling and sensing natural energies, we use our imaginations and incorporate them into our movement. Together we will build a practice that uses tools for improvising including journaling, explorations of objects and relationships, animism, stream of consciousness, power animals, dreams, etc. These practices guide us to reflect on the micro and macro dynamics of ourselves in today’s society. They will allow us to express ourselves as individuals with individual beliefs systems that respond to and are connected to a larger holistic structure. Through them we discover our individual and collective Dream Bodies as a point of departure for making composition.

Each day will begin with gentle floor work based on the Feldenkrais Method®. It will be followed by a slow movement exploration affording each individual the opportunity to listen to what is within themselves and to discover their own innate movements. From there we will explore movement phrasing through improvisation
