The ideas for this festival came from our asking ourselves what it is to be dancers/performers/collaborators/interpreters rather than dance “makers” and to be the bodies that contain the lineage of works that have filtered through us, become part of our Who We Are. We desired finding a way to highlight performers we saw in a similar way and their processes, practices, and influences. These three evenings of performances are the result of asking the participating artists the questions we have been asking ourselves: What does it mean to use your body as an interpreter? As a living archive? As a history of collaboration? And what about those conscious or subconscious influences from our own unique individual life experiences that filter into our art – into our collaborators art? So the performances you will see over these three nights are the invited artists’ responses. Some had a piece that they felt connected to these questions. Others made a work directly in response. Others collaborated on structures that focused on presence, process, and practice. Each night is different. Each is an investigation. And each is a celebration. Enjoy.
