Workshop Description:

Barbara Mahler's decades long investigations into Klein Technique™ have allowed her to impart her knowledge on several generations of dancers. A student of Susan Klein and Colette Barry, she became the first certified Klein Technique™ teacher. Klein Technique™ works at the level of the bone, the deepest and densest structure in the body. Here, the body and it's movement is addressed through clarity, imagery, and theory. Working at this level allows us to drop in under the layers of muscles, and focus on the deep connections of postural support and movement. Freeing the legs and spine, connecting the pelvis to the legs, and connecting the upper body to the lower, and the skull to the feet. In this year's MELT workshop, my intention is to work from large to small, from movement to stillness and quiet. Theory is always interwoven with practice as needed.
