Description:

Since 2016, Meg Stuart and Mark Tompkins have shared their passion for improvisation in radically different landscapes and contexts, giving workshops and performances, and gathering texts and images to make ONE SHOT, a book about the labyrinth of real-time composition.

During this event, Meg Stuart and Mark Tompkins will share insights about their creative practice, the making of the book, and their shared improvisation practice. How they do it will be an experiment!

About ONE SHOT project:
"We made a LEXICON of keywords in improvisation for the book. In 2019, during a lab in Burdag Poland, we created a duet - also called ONE SHOT - that Gilles filmed from the inside. We chose 20 words from the LEXICON, wrote them on cards, and put them face down on the floor. Whenever we want, we pick a card, BY CHANCE, show it to the audience and talk and/or dance. The words create the dynamic flow of our actions: dancing, speaking, listening, touching, and reflecting. Since then, we have performed ONE SHOT five times. Sometimes there is a musician, sometimes there are props or costumes. Everything depends on the context of the performance.” -Meg Stuart and Mark Tompkins
