Covid-19 Safety Notice

• All participants, attendees, and visitors participating in MELT workshops must be Fully Vaccinated.
• All participants, attendees, and visitors must wear K95 or KN95 masks during the entire duration of the workshop. MR will provide K95/KN95 masks if you do not have/bring your own.
• As variants continue to arise and circumstances around the virus shift we may announce updated COVID protocols closer to the date of the workshops. Please note, any updated COVID protocols will require that all participants, attendees, and visitors must wear a K95 or KN95 mask during the entire duration of the workshop.

Workshop Description:

This workshop draws on achugar's own practice developed through years of making performances as a method that can be utilized as a tool or a container for any creative process. Via this practice we investigate ways of uncovering what's already present (but perhaps repressed or suppressed/oppressed) in ourselves, and how to create the conditions to let it manifest and appear on its own. The practice of being in pleasure is a practice of undoing the learned hierarchical model of embodiment that has been programmed into us and to undo the shame that comes with it to unearth a more liberated, empowered, decolonized, uncivilized self that is more connected to our instincts, our hearts, our guts, and our sex to celebrate togetherness, and connection to the earth to ourselves and to others.

Accessibility Notes:

The Ninth St Studio is located on the first floor of 122 Community Center. Studio door is 35.5 inches wide x 96 inches high. The studio has a low-rise wooden floor. A ramp, located at the entrance of the studio, allows easy access to the wooden floor. There are five columns distributed through the studio space. Three columns are 20 inches wide, two are 16 inches wide. All of them are duly outlined with red masking tape at mid and floor level for easy identification. Ninth St Studio is a fragrance/scent free space.
