Movement Research offers this MELT workshop virtually over Zoom.

Workshop description:

Many of us are coming face to face with the question of touch during a time when social distancing is the recommended way to relate. In forms of dance where touch is such an integral part of what we do, and an approach we often draw on for information and inspiration, it seems especially relevant that we address this issue.

In this workshop, we will explore our own touch, observe how it can reveal fresh details about our physical structure and stimulate our imagination. Slow sensory investigations will lead into movement research that uses the spaces we currently inhabit, encouraging responsiveness to both our inner and outer environments.

We will draw on principles from mindful physical practices, such as the Alexander Technique, Ideokinesis, and Anatomical Release Technique.

MELT Zoom Etiquette Guidelines:

  • We ask that you please "Mute" yourself when you are not verbally participating.
  • Please do your best to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the session. If you plan to leave early, inform the faculty member at the top of class using the "Chat" function in your Zoom window.
  • Experiencing connectivity or technological issues? Either use the "Chat" function to communicate with the MR administrator, or email “[email protected]" and someone will assist you as soon as possible.
