12:30pm – 3:00pm
November 15, 2020
- This is a freely offered event for those who identify as people of color.
- AoCC typically meets on the second Saturday of the month. Please note this event takes place on a Sunday.
- This event will take place via Zoom.
This month, in lieu of our regular meeting, the Artists of Color Council will offer a gathering. While we continue to rest in this liminal space of uncertainty, we will center healing, community resiliency, rest and conversation surrounding movement and joy.
The gathering will open and close with grounding, inviting in and transitioning out of the meeting with a guided meditation offering based in breath. A rooting remembering, a turning towards orbit, a staying in circulation, a time-traveling amongst, nurtured and led by lily bo shapiro.
In between, community members Angie Pittman, Ashon Crawley and Malcolm-x Betts will join us for a conversation centering performance practice as a possibility for radical Black joy. How can practice be offered as an antidote?
We hope you can join us in beloved community. This gathering is freely offered. Please RSVP to Council Coordinator Jessica Angima at [email protected].
This event will take place via Zoom. Please note, this is an intentional and protected space for those who identify as people of color. We hope that you will honor this and refrain from RSVPing if you do not identify as such.
About the Artists of Color Council:
A cohort of artists of color addressing cultural diversity, equity, and sustainable structural integration in MR’s operations, programming, outreach, and throughout its extended communities. The council aspires to increase visibility, opportunities, and engagement with resources for artists of color within the field.
About AoCC Meetings:
The Artists of Color Council meets on the second Saturday of the month from 12:30-2:30PM, except for the four vision meetings scheduled throughout the year when the council meets from 12:30-3PM. Vision meetings offer the time and space to pull back and consider and support our vision, mission, goals and values.
