Movement Research at the Judson Church
The Movement Research at The Judson Church gives local and international artists an opportunity to showcase performance work at any stage of development. This is a high visibility, low-tech forum on Monday nights happening throughout the fall and spring seasons.
Open Performance
A program of non-curated shared showings of experimentation and work-in-progress, for artists at all stages of their development. The events are centered around an audience discussion moderated by a Movement Research Artist-in-Residence or guest artist, where we will experiment with different feedback methods to support and inform the artists’ process.
Festival
Movement Research Festivals explore contemporary dance forms through performances, classes, workshops, and discursive events. MR Festivals allow for a varied investigation and exploration into current artistic concerns and reflect Movement Research’s mission of valuing artists, their creative process, and their vital role within society.
Studies Project
An artist-curated series of panel discussions, participatory dialogues and community conversations that focus on provocative, timely issues of aesthetics and philosophy at the intersection of dance and social politics. All Studies Project events are free and open to the public.
GPS Chats
GPS Chats offers GPS artists and cultural producers an informal platform to discuss their work in the independent contemporary dance sector within their cultural contexts and the influence of international exchange on the development of their practices.
