MRX / Sweden: Kyrie Oda

author would show here if there was one

It has been amazing to welcome MRX Sweden Exchange artist Kyrie Oda to the Movement Research Community! For the past several weeks, Kyrie has participated in MELT workshops and researched during studio sessions. Check out a sneak peek into Movement Research Exchange artist Kyrie Oda‘s process. In this video Kyrie moves and shifts through space creating spirals with her torso and reaching her arms upwards. She vocalizes, swinging her body and arms, in wide circles. Kyrie started her career as a dancer with H.T.Chen and Michael Mao. Since then she has been dancing in various dance companies and projects in Japan and Europe. Since 2016 Kyrie co-directs and choreographed for the dance company PA× based in Gothenburg, Sweden. www.p-a-x.org

She shares, “I am currently working around the theme of “Stranger in a Strange Land”. As part of this I am developing a solo that is inspired by Song of the Sea in the book of Exodus.”

Movement Research Exchange (MRX)
A vehicle to spur interaction and exchange among independent choreographers and their peers from within and outside the U.S, MRX enables Artists-in-Residence and faculty to travel outside their home environment for residency activities, informal showings, discussions and teaching opportunities.
