About this Workshop:
Development in the Dark Room is a structured improvisational dance class designed for the educational needs of blind and visually impaired people. It has an internal focus on movement creation, while cultivating a sense of the body in motion, and will give students opportunities to practice self audio description in community. The Dark Room is a safe vessel for choreographic development in disability community, and will explore themes of self-growth.

Image description:
A lone dancer turns away from the audience taking a tentative step, up stage, leaving the toe of the arabesque leg lightly touching the floor awaiting what will come next. She looks out into the distance alert, with anticipation towards Stage Right, with both arms sending out energy from the shoulders through the fingertips downward at 45 degrees.
