Kayla White (she/her) is an interdisciplinary movement artist activated by resilience through softening, functional movement, and physically throwing herself on the floor. Kayla has been performing and collaborating with Mack Lawrence in their dance-play “Dinner” since 2021 (MOtiVE Brooklyn, WAXworks, The Brick Theater). Additionally, she is in continuous process developing her solo work “Kisses For Barb” – devised as a scattered, inconclusive attempt to navigate her grandfather’s second marriage. A sort of desperate, sort of detached, sort of high praise for Dolly Parton. Most recently, she co-founded and co-produced THAT SHOW, an intimate evening of “dance” with an emphasis on collaboration, risk-taking, and cross disciplinary appreciation. When not engaging in her dance practice, you can find Kayla supporting herself by teaching Pilates across Brooklyn. Kayla’s approach to teaching Pilates is similar in value – meeting movement with compassion, inviting in challenge and rigor, and allowing for bodies to be bodies. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin holding a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography as well as completing her 600 hour comprehensive Pilates certification for Gramercy Pilates NYC.
