Pilates for the Revolution is a mat class crafted for folks who want a physical practice that supports them in resisting and fighting the system.
Come cultivate an adaptable, responsive body while honing your ability to be present and listen with care. This practice offers an opportunity to create deeper awareness and understanding of the systems and structures that make up our bodies while staying attuned to the world around us. We will build support for our joints and grow our ability to expand, pivot, turn, ground, locomote, respond, and perceive.
Sofia’s methodology draws inspiration from Joseph Pilates’ classical teachings, rehabilitative and embodied kinesiology practices, queer theory, exercise and neuro science, consent protocol, and modern/postmodern/contemporary dance.
What to expect:
It is suggested that folks come to this practice with some prior Pilates experiences (a couple of classes will do) or other knowledge of alternative movement, exercise, or somatic forms. Consent will always be asked before offering hands-on guidance.
