maura nguyễn donohue, Lumi Tan, and Anh Vo are the co-editors of Movement Research Performance Journal #62 which is entirely dedicated to experimental Vietnamese performance art, with reflections from over 15 artists and curators. The journal acts as a parallel publication to their upcoming project, We Exist in the Ambivalence of those Motherfuckers at Performance Space New York from January 18-February 9, 2026, for which they have invited a group of artists from Vietnam to be in residency and create new performances. Ahead of the artists arrival in New York, this Reading Group will look closely at a few of the contributions to MRPJ #62 alongside contextual essays not included in the journal as an introduction to the recent history and concerns of the Vietnamese performance scene.
