maura nguyễn donohue, Lumi Tan, and Anh Vo are the co-editors of Movement Research Performance Journal #62 which is entirely dedicated to experimental Vietnamese performance art, with reflections from over 15 artists and curators. The journal acts as a parallel publication to their upcoming project, We Exist in the Ambivalence of those Motherfuckers at Performance Space New York from January 18-February 9, 2026, for which they have invited a group of artists from Vietnam to be in residency and create new performances. Ahead of the artists arrival in New York, this Reading Group will look closely at a few of the contributions to MRPJ #62 alongside contextual essays not included in the journal as an introduction to the recent history and concerns of the Vietnamese performance scene.

    Maura Donohue

    Maura Nguyen Donohue has been making experimental performance works in NYC for 20 years. Her work has been produced by Dance Theater Workshop (now New York Live Arts), Roulette, Danspace Project, Performance Space 122, La Mama, The Asia Society, Mulberry St. Theater, the West End Theater, and has toured across the US and to Europe and Asia.
