As our words, our bodies, and our world melt into and all around us — join this collective reading group co-curated by the Movement Research Performance Journal and Critical Correspondence editorial teams (Nicole Bradbury, Joshua Lubin-Levy, John Arthur Peetz, Londs Reuter, Takahiro Yamamoto).

A short reading list, loosely based around the keyword “melt,” will be provided to participants before the reading group. Copies will also be available on-site for participants to join and read up on the day of the event. Or, perhaps you’d like to bring your own reading materials connected to the notion of melt or melting. Whatever you choose to read, over the course of this reading group, you will have the chance to read independently in a shared space before joining small groups for discussions that seek emergent themes and connections across disparate texts. This event will be facilitated by members of the MRPJ editorial team, and provides participants a space to not only rest and read to close out a day of movement workshops included in the summer MELT intensive but also to find other pathways to community and connection.

What to expect:

This Reading Group is structured in twenty to thirty minute intervals, alternating between individual reading and collective discussion. Participants will get the chance to read to themselves in a library-like atmosphere before being assigned to a small group to discuss what they read with others, potentially leading small groups into further discussion. These two practices — reading and discussing — will alternate until the reading group’s allotted time concludes.
