Elasticity is a choreographic workshop that will investigate vocabularies that stem from contemporary and modern dance traditions filtered through a Black lens; phrasework will prioritize deep musicality, artistry, and technical rigor. Implementing open dialogue and diverse movement explorations, we will examine narrative and choreographic themes of rebound, recovery, and relentlessness through which artists can examine their relationship with expansion, risk, and “finding their edge”. Using this time to discover new ways of navigating through moments of physical and mental fatigue, these applications of movement are meant to mirror and encourage communal pursuits of liberty and freedom, while incubating joy, exchange, and education for all participants in the space.
