AXIS Company Dancers will guide participants to explore elements of integrated dance for disabled, non-disabled, D/deaf, and neurodivergent people. Using pedagogic tools of translation, improvisation, and contemporary dance study, we will expand our embodied potential for creative expression. Rooted in accessibility, disability justice, disabled history, and intersectional understanding, this class encourages dancers of all experiences to approach practice with inclusivity, equity, and communal care.

What to expect:
This class is for dancers of all movement experiences and is designed to be fully accessible. Participants can expect to be led through a warm-up, phrase work, improvisation, and reflection scores developed by the company that challenges current understanding of concert dance and opens new pathways for considering movement expression. Each facilitator will bring their individual movement lineages to the class to provide intersectional and global perspective to the accessible AXIS teaching practices that all AXIS teaching artists utilize. Target audiences for this workshop are individuals with beginning to advanced movement experience.
