A laboratory for dancers, musicians, writers, painters, theater artists + to research and develop creative material both individually and within the ensemble of participants.
Ayurveda translates as the science of life.
Science is the study of living.
Creative Arts is an expression from and of our lives.
This 8 session workshop is a collaboration between dance artist and teacher K.J. Holmes and neuroscientist and dance researcher Hossein Aleyasin. Each session will focus on and utilize a specific dhatu, or element/tissue of the body, through experiential study of anatomy, eastern and western theories, and movement principles. These will act as a source for creating material for performance. The workshop will culminate in an informal in-studio showing with all participants on the evening of the last class.
What to Expect:
The workshop will be both laboratory and creative studio. We will explore the diverse material through lecture, slides, sounding, movement, writing and drawing, and embodying transitions as blueprints for improvising and composing work.
Students must take the full workshop as the material will develop each week.
Open to all who are currently engaged with making work in all mediums.
