How does movement become the language in which to express ourselves? What does movement do and what can it become? How do we practice our unfolding ecology and dance for each other, for ourselves? I would like to propose living in the questions and experiencing what they reveal; a sort of patient practice; waiting to experience the sensation of you catching up with you as you arrive within the initiations of movement. Through partnered movement explorations and modes of physical listening as a way to heighten our responsivity, we will improvise and learn phrase material. While creating and navigating physical landscapes, the work we will do together holds an intention and an invitation to experience conversing intimately with movement, with dance, and with each other.
What to expect:
In this workshop we will figure out ways to heighten our attention and physical awareness through improvisation, some hands on partnering or sharing of weight or space in close proximity to each other. We will learn phrase material, yet less to perfect it and hopefully more as a way to practice dancing and thinking and feeling- trying to keep going into the dance to figure it out, dance our questions, sweat, move to music and move with each other. The workshop will move slowly and quickly.
