Sourcing our experiential understanding of form and interpretation, this workshop holds time and space for listening and responding with dance and embodied sound. We will warm up and delve into sequences of movement that references dialects and techniques rooted in flight, Jazz, “modern” dance, and somatic lineages. We will move and improvise guided by imagery and poetics. And we will learn phrase material that references lessons and recipes sourced from Black people who mother.

You will be asked to:
Take care of yourself
Rest
Move
Write/Draw/Speak

What to expect:
Lush imagery to support movement and stillness.
A space to take care of yourself in order to be in collective practice with others.
Improvisation and choreographic recipes.
Space and time to listen and respond.
Solo practice and group practice.
