Come explore your internal self through phrases, improv, rest, and play that evoke sensation and awareness.

In this return to LIVE dancing together we have the opportunity to feel our group creativity, embrace space and enjoy touch through Contact Improv, hands-on movement re-patterning, partner dancing and moments of healing exchange. Learn how Bartenieff Fundamentals supports movement and can be artfully explored while diving into the body’s anatomy and physiology through experiential processes.

We’ll dance and then break down elements of class with deeper investigation through the lens of Martha’s system of Somatic Movement Therapy – Dynamic Embodiment, which is an interplay of conscious movement, skilled touch and compassionate dialogue. All elements of class may be engaged with physically, with the imagination or through respectful witnessing. Full somatic engagement celebrates your living body and each person’s choices. As a group we strive to create an open and easy-going mood for self-discovery and communal rhythms.
