EDITOR’S LETTERS
We are very excited that Movement Research and the MRPJ have produced the first consolidated body of information on the work of choreographer Xavier Le Roy. The influence of his work on the field of contemporary dance has been both generous and unmistakeable. I hope you will enjoy this cover artist portfolio. It is our largest and most comprehensive to date; and I hope we can continue to find the resources to produce artist portfolios of this size and range. A special thank you to Bojana Cvejic whose contribution to this portfolio and discussion was critical to its realization.
I am also happy to report that the next editor of the MRPJ will be choreographer- dancer Ursula Eagly. Ursula will begin with the Fall 2012 issue, so the next issue is my last. No time for sad songs…we’ll definitely talk more in the next issue.
All the best,
Trajal

In the materials collected for this portfolio, we find vastly different approaches to discussing and engaging with the work of Xavier Le Roy. I find this particularly appropriate for Le Roy’s work, which always asks a question, but leaves the answer open.
And while Le Roy has realized a define level of recognition in Europe, in the U.S., which is the primary audience of this publication, the ideas and conversation his work engages remain (perhaps) less prominent. To that end, I’d hope this portfolio can be useful to those unfamiliar with the work, and also serve as a guide for deeper exploration of the variety of influences and effects Le Roy’s work has had and continues to have on the scene of contemporary dance.
