Releasing classes engage our whole selves through movement, imagination, physical sensation, and guided imagery. Releasing involves elements of softening, letting go of unnecessary tension, and allowing movement to unfold from within, on its own time. These foundational principles spark each person’s intuitive creative process and spontaneous dancing. Some of the class is spent on the floor feeling gravity’s support and allowing time for deep kinesthetic experience. Music is also integrated into class as a resource for our dancing with efficiency, power, freedom, and nuance. The class is an experiential process of awakening our internal and external awareness, allowing it to inform and enliven our dancing.
What to expect:
This class is for dancers, somatic movement practitioners, and anyone wanting to enhance their sense of wellbeing. You can expect time on the floor, as well as time moving and improvising out of the floor. Guided imagery, tactile movement studies, and music are integral to the class.
