WANDA GAŁA is a dance artist whose interest in body politics unifies her academic and artistic work. Since 2007 she’s developed works with Narcissister, choreographing, staging and consulting theatrical, site-specific and gallery performances. These presentations include those at the Anti-Fest Live Art Prize, the Highline, The Studio Museum of Harlem, New Museum, The Kitchen, Abrons Arts Center, Performa, and recently the world premiere of Voyage into Infinity at Pioneer Works. Gala is the co-founder of the NYC based somatic practice, Autosomatica, with the artist, Sef Hopkins, and has taught at the University of Limerick, Rutgers University, Judson Church, Movement Research, University of Santa Barbara, Gibney Dance, Arts on Site, City College of New York, Binaural/Nodar (PT), Hunter College, Silesian Dance Theatre (PL) the Bronx Museum. Her current research and community projects explore how the arts and embodied technologies can shape functional social infrastructure—nourishing self-determination, deepening knowledge, and supporting communal repair.
