Valentina Baché was born into a cacophony of color and macaws in the isolation of the Caribbean jungle in Playa del Carmen, México. Learning the language of movement before the spoken one, taught by the sea, dogs and blood. At 15 they skipped high school to attend Bard College at Simons Rock, then transferring to Hunter College graduating in 2020. Since, they have done everything in their power to survive and share their art. In a lifelong battle against the imperialist soul they have found that love is the reason and greed must be expelled from within everyday. Through spiritual devotion to dance as prayer. They believe in the magic of nature and expose the surreal ways in which we all contribute to cycles of harm. Through this giving birth to a new technique, practice and way of resisting. They spin because the divine is always spiraling and they bark because the dog is a mirror into our own malleability. They believe that it is in the suppression of rage that this energy becomes dangerous instead of transformative. Valentina is a multidisciplinary artist first a lover then a performer, textile artist, sculptor and designer of beauty, violence and truth all at once.

In this image Valentina stands on the foreground and they are bent over looking straight at the camera with a look that expresses fearless rage. Their left arm is extended out to the side and pointing in a sharp manner. In the background a group of dancers point at Valentina, their faces holding both shock and horror. The image is quite dark; the shadows give way to a cave like mystery. Photo by Blu.
