Censorship of artists in the U.S. is currently a powerful force, yet it is not unprecedented. UNDOXX is an artist-run collective that organizes events, happenings, and gatherings created, curated, and produced by zavé martohardjono, Maya Simone Z., and Jamie Chan. We aim to bring together BIPOC artists of the global majority, queer and trans artists, and marginalized artists who have experienced censorship and contend with its inner workings. UNDOXX is committed to gathering artists, activists, and advocates to facilitate conversation and learning, generate community resources, build power, and generate creative exchange that will equip artists to navigate the constantly evolving impacts of censorship.
Our fall 2024 programming featured artists and activists from the U.S., Mexico, Palestine, and the U.K. These events ranged from performances, film screenings, teach-ins, dance workshops, new media exhibits, to resource-sharing gatherings over the course of three weeks at JACK in Brooklyn, NY connecting many artists navigating censorship.
