Sumire Muratsu is an artist from Japan, who works with body as a medium to explore the underlying logics of nature — shared across micro-organisms, planets, and humans alike. Influenced by Eastern philosophy and its perspective towards ecology, her works seek to extract and translate cosmic phenomena that give form to what we invisibly experience, offering insights into psychological patterns, particularly those labeled as mental illness. A member of the Japanese Butoh company, RenGyoSoh. Sumire’s works are often described as minimalistic, mystical, melancholic, poetic and surreal.

ID: On a windowsill where soft lights are coming in, a person sits sideways, leaning back against one side with an arm stretched upward and legs bent toward the opposite wall. They have short hair with bangs and braids, wearing a loose dark shirt with wide black pants. Eyes are silently closed, dreaming.
