Storm Stokes is an emerging contemporary dance- scholar, choreographer, and artistic director based in DET/NYC. Her works combine eclectic movement, videodance, visual art, and site specificity to explore themes of liberation, Afro- Futurism, autoethnography, and material self discovery. Storm completed a B.A. in African American Studies and Dance at Princeton University; and trained with artists Shamel Pitts, Jacob Jonas the Company, Rashaun Mitchell & Silas Riener, Rebecca Lazier, Chrysanthi Badeka, more. She received The Lewis Center for the Arts’ Toni Morrison Prize for her latest work – i, heresy; & The Badi Foster Distinguished Senior Prize in African American Studies.
