Shelley Senter
Shelley Senter is an independent dance artist whose work has been presented throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, Russia and Australia. A member of the Movement Research community for nearly thirty years, she has been critically recognized and awarded for her distinct approach to movement, performance and pedagogy, collaborating with many distinguished artists, such as Trisha Brown, Deborah Hay, Bebe Miller and Lower Left Performance Collective. She is a repetiteur of the seminal choreography of Brown and Yvonne Rainer, and has been presented as a "Living Archive" of their work and others' in autobiographical performance-lectures in such venues as MoMA, the Tate Modern, Berliner Festival and at the US Embassy in Vienna, where she was honored by the Impulstanz International Dance Festival. A teacher of the Alexander Technique, her work is informed by her experience investigating the principles of this technique to the performing body and mind. She currently teaches AT at La Biennale di Venezia and at Sarah Lawrence College, and maintains a private practice in NYC.
