Myssi Robinson is a Bessie award winning performer, multidisciplinary maker and caregiver from Powhatan lands / Richmond, VA. In the past two years she’s quieted her work as a dancer to listen deeply to the choreographies of chronic reproductive illness and to get intimate with personal agency and spiritual impulse. Robinson explores creative archiving … mixed-media marking … spatial design … ritual curiosities. Through photography, video poetry, detailed visual art response and spirit-forward witnessing, she asks how archives can flirt with embodiment / collective processing / the blurring of legibility / affirmation of being. Robinson’s set design work for other creators feels like shrine composing and her companion work with the elderly brings rootedness. Intuition and empathy play with maximalist instinct to give life to what comes. Gratitude to Carolyn and Darrin for her life and abilities to create freely within it. may we all heal.
