Monica Nyenkan is a Black queer womanist, artist, organizer, curator, and administrator from Charlotte, NC. She graduated from MarymountManhattan College (NYC), with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies – exploring how art, business, and society greatly influence one another. Her artistic and administrative work focuses on creating equitable ways to make art more accessible for/with historically disenfranchised communities. She is the founder of Obsidian Esthetic, an online gallery committed to serving local artists and audiences, and believes dance provides a rare opportunity for healing to be both regenerative and soothing. Monica is an active member of BYP100 and firmly believes the decolonization of our imaginations will usher in a more radical and inclusive way of living.
