Miguel Gutierrez

Miguel Gutierrez is a choreographer, composer, performer, singer, writer, educator, and Feldenkrais Method practitioner who lives in Brooklyn. He is a 2016 Doris Duke Artist. His work has been presented in over 60 cities around the world, most recently in Minneapolis at Walker Art Center and Columbus at Wexner Center for the Arts. He has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, United States Artists Fellowship, a Foundation for Contemporary Art award and four NY Dance and Performance Bessies. Recent projects Unsustainable Solutions: Duet with my Dead Dad, a duet for Miguel and his father on video, This Bridge Called My Ass, a performance that bends tropes of Latinidad, and SADONNA, a re-interpretation of Madonna songs. He is currently working on a new ep of songs, and on Are You For Sale? a podcast that will look at the relationship between performance making, philanthropy and ethics. www.miguelgutierrez.org
