​Lai Yi Ohlsen

Lai Yi Ohlsen is an artist, writer and researcher whose work considers systems and the narratives of their histories. She is a 2019 Artist in Residence at Movement Research, a Year 8 Member of New Inc’s Art + Code Track in partnership with Rhizome and was a Spring 2020 Technology Resident at Pioneer Works. She has also been in residence at Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation, rehearsal and MANCC's Forward Dialogues as Kim Savarino's collaborator. Her work has been shown at Tech Zine Fair, Movement Research’s Fall Festival, New York Art Book Fair, the Internet Archive’s Decentralized Web Summit and Our Networks. Since 2019 she has been the Director of Measurement Lab, a fiscally sponsored project of Code for Science & Society. Her current research interests include shipping containers & Cold War containment, Asian-American adoption in the early 1990s, and the limitation of language as a means to communicate. She loves the Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks (in that order) and will talk to you about basketball anytime.
