Kay Takeda has worked for over 20 years to advance artists and the arts sector. She is currently the Senior Director of Artist Programs at the Joan Mitchell Foundation, where she stewards a diverse roster of artist-centered initiatives as an essential facet of Mitchell’s legacy. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served as Vice President, Grants & Services at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, where she developed and oversaw artist support programs and community initiatives; has led national grantmaking programs at Arts International and managed a robust exhibition program at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor. She has served on the boards of the artist-run Goliath Visual Space and Tickle the Sleeping Giant, Inc./Trajal Harrell, has sat on numerous funding panels, and lectures widely on professional issues affecting artists.
