New Orleans writer Kalamu ya Salaam is the author of a new collection of essays and poetry, What Is Life? — Reclaiming The Black Blues Self (Third World Press: Chicago) He is also the producer and scriptwriter for “Crescent City Sounds,” a nationally syndicated weekly New Orleans music program.
