kayla may, k may, kmps is the first born daughter of Jerry Gelindon Suarez (Ferrol Romblon, Philippines) and Yolanda Fadera Paz Suarez (Masudsud Concepcion, Romblon Philippines) They are an Aquarius-Sun, Cancer-Rising, and Leo-Moon. Born a first generation Filipinx-American decolonizing multi hyphenated artist and activist who blends dance/movement, physical storytelling and comedy. Currently settled in Spanish Harlem, New York (Munsee Lenape Land) Born and raised on Ohlone Land, Confederated Villages of Lisjan (San Lorenzo, Ca)

k may received their professional acting training from the Pacific Conservatory Theater (2015). As an actor, k may has worked in various spaces including Berkeley Playhouse, Z Space, Kearny Street Workshop, Piano Fight, Cutting Ball Theater and Theatre Row. They have self published their first book “Recollexunz 1: Said & Done” (2022) and is the writer and performer of a 1 person show, (2019) “The Kayla May Project: come laugh at my trauma” Previous arts administration positions include Associate Artistic Director and Education/Communications of Epiphany Dance Theater, Performer for Youth Speaks with the New Conservatory Theater Center and teaching artists for various theater companies. In fall 2023, k may began their journey with Movement Research as Communications and Media Manager. k may’s mission is to empower and nurture the next generation of storytellers by forging connections between art and technology through education and reclamation of self expression.
