Estefania Castaño Z, widely recognized as Jugo Rosa, is an interdisciplinary artist from Pereira, Colombia, and a graduate of the Visual Arts program at the Technological University of Pereira. She is also a member of the creative collective ALThaus. Jugo Rosa’s artistic practice spans research, live arts (performance, dance, and theater), plastic arts (painting and installation), transformism, and music, all of which serve as mediums to express her identity and reflections. Over her 15-year career, Jugo Rosa has explored themes such as freedom, sexual diversity (LGBTIQ+), queerness, feminism, social criticism, politics, and religion. Her work has earned her recognition in Colombia and now in NY. Through her artistic practices, Jugo Rosa embraces the identity of a “Bioqueen,” a term describing the hyper-feminization of the body for performance purposes within the realm of drag art. She has collaborated with artistic groups and collectives in Colombia and in United States.
