Cory Nakasue is a theater artist and poet whose work includes choreography, dramaturgy, and video. Her original dance and theater pieces have been presented at DTW, 3LD, First Works Festival, CounterPulse, Bloomsbury Theatre (London), Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona), Berkshire Fringe, California Museum of Photography, and Dance on Camera Festival among others. Since moving to the Hudson Valley she’s directed a production of Straight White Men and served as dramaturg for Elisabeth Motley’s Colored Shadow (Movement Research). Her poetry has been published/presented by Aligned Magazine, Summer Stock Journal, Gathering Space, NYC Poetry Festival, Soul Sister Review, and Brooklyn Poets among others. Her work has been supported by Dancenow/NYC, London Arts Board, Arts Council England, and NYSCA, among others. She was a co-artistic director of SPINE (UK, Los Angeles, NYC) between 1999-2009. She’s currently the astrologer-in-residence at Poetry Barn, Chronogram, and Opus 40. Her work with astrology extends into poetics and somatics (The Cosmic Event of the Body 2023 Cosmic Doghouse Press), and storytelling and community building (The Cosmic Dispatch weekly radio show/podcast).

Cory has worked with Eva Yaa Asanteewa to create platforms for writers and dramaturgs to expand their influence in performance through audience development, curation, and process facilitation (Collective for Dance and Media Writers) and was an associate editor at The Dance Enthusiast. She has worked as a somatic therapist, movement educator, and embodiment champion for ALL BODIES for over 20 years.
