Clara Kim is a dancer and writer living in Brooklyn, NY. Rooted by principles of contact improvisation, postmodern aesthetics and Zen Buddhism, her practice explores the complex entanglement of time, metaphor, change and memory. She is committed to dance as a pre-conceptual area of expression that stands in impossible, perfect relation to the written word. They have been deeply affected by working and learning with artists including Deborah Hay, KJ Holmes and Amelia Heintzelman. She holds a BA from Smith College in Philosophy with a minor in Neuroscience.

On a darkened stage Clara wears loose beige clothing while draping her torso laterally over her bent right leg as her left leg extends straight behind her. Her right arm forms an angular shape tucked behind her right side body and her gaze is fixed on her left hand’s fingertips. Photo credit to Derek Fowles.
