Charmaine Warren is a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer. She performs with Jasmine Hearn, other choreographers and performed with david rousseve/REALITY for many years.  She is the founder/producer/artistic director of “Black Dance Stories,” Producer of DanceAfrica at BAM, a co-curator for Harlem Stage/EMoves, she was the founder/artistic director of Dance on the Lawn:” Montclair’s Dance Festival and was the Director of Dance @ Wassaic Project. Charmaine writes on dance for The New York Amsterdam NewsDance Magazine and other publications. She is a 2017 Bessie Award Recipient for “Outstanding Performance” as a member of Skeleton Architecture Collective, and a 2021 “Angel Awardee.” She was a faculty member at Hunter College, The Ailey School, the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University, Sarah Lawrence College and Kean University. She holds a Ph.D. from Howard University, a master’s degree from CUNY, and a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State College.
