Cassie Wheeler is a Brooklyn based dance artist whose movement practice is rooted in tunneling down into a deeper well of the uncomfortable, the disorienting, the nonsensical to find ascension. Achieving righteousness through ritual, exhausting the body to free the mind, transforming the futile efforts of the singular into the lasting efforts of the many. Originally from North Carolina, she received her BFA from SUNY Purchase in 2025, prior to which she studied at the University of the Arts under Donna-Faye Birchfield. She has performed in works by Katie Swords-Thurman, Sidra Bell, Maleek Washington, Mark Caserta, and Jesse Zaritt.
