Aparna Shankar is a bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer based in New York City who has performed both solo and ensemble works. Her work has been presented at the Outlet Dance Project, Emerging Artists Theatre’s Spark Theatre Festival, and at the Tank’s Darkfest. She danced as an ensemble dancer in The Affair that was presented at the Drive East Festival and the When Eyes Speak Festival and also as a member of the Navatman Dance Company from 2017 – 2021. She’s also explored dance choreography for film in BEAST. Most of the themes Aparna currently explores through her work are those informed by her experiences as part of the Indian diaspora.
