Al Evangelista is a performer, choreographer, and teacher. His artistic and scholarly work leans on the intersections of dance, culture, and society, particularly in expressing queer and Filipinx-American narratives. Al is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Oberlin College with a courtesy appointment in the Comparative American Studies Department, a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Communicating Science at Virginia Tech, and a passionate advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration. Al has performed nationally and internationally, including work at the National Center for Choreography at The University of Akron, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, American Theatre Company, Links Hall, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, Dance Exchange, Dance Place, slippage lab at Northwestern University, and the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art.
