Movement Research offers 11 interrelated core programs including work-in-process performance series; artist residencies; national/international exchanges; festivals and discussions; subsidized rehearsal space; publications (MR Performance Journal and Critical Correspondence); and classes & workshops for professional artists and for students in NYC public schools.
Development & Executive Support Associate
Job Description
The Development & Executive Support Associate will report to the Development Manager and Executive Director. The position supports Movement Research’s individual giving programs and departmental administration through organization of reporting and tracking across the organization, creation of materials for donation campaigns, and institutional giving materials.
Development & Executive Support Associate is a part-time, 25-hour/week, hourly position at Movement Research.
Compensation: $22/hour
12 days of paid time off (PTO) annually on an accrual basis.
Accrued PTO may be used after 3 months of employment.
Schedule: This position is a primarily on-site position 4-5 days per week in the office, with some remote work. Schedule is determined in collaboration with the Development Manager for shifts throughout weekdays (Monday-Friday) with periodic events on nights and weekends.

- An employee contribution 403(b) plan is available.
- MR part-time hourly staff work on flex-time. This means an ongoing weekly schedule is set and maintained, but there is flexibility, with prior approval, to adjust weekly hours based on density of programming and personal and/or artistic commitments outside of MR.
- Movement Research employees receive free access to Movement Research classes; and free or discounted participation in MR workshops on a case-by-case basis.
- When possible, Movement Research implements an annual cost of living increase for its employees at the turn of the fiscal year on July 1.
Location: The Movement Research office and studios are located in 122 Cultural Center at 150 First Avenue, New York, NY 10009.

Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience with administrative work at a performing arts organization and/or artists services.
- Interest in supporting and sustaining artists in the community.
- Knowledge and/or interest in local and national performing arts.
- Strong communication, writing and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritizing and managing workload.
- Possess strong team working skills and enjoys a collaborative work environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple program timelines and schedules.
- Experience with Mac platforms; Google including GMail, GoogleDocs, and GoogleSheets; MSOffice including Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with database and/or online platforms including the following is a plus: Submittable, Dropbox, Jotform, Filemaker, GiveLively, and Ti.to.
- Located within the New York Metropolitan Area and authorized to work in the United States.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and growing the donor base through communication, relationship building, cultivation, and solicitation in our individual giving programs occurring throughout the year.
- Support departmental administration, including the scheduling of meetings for the Development Team and the Movement Research Board of Directors, and managing agendas, ongoing tracking documents, and grant materials.
- Organizing MR program statistics and demographic tracking for funder reports, coordinating with MR Programs staff to keep tracking updated, and working collaboratively with the Development Manager to compose Annual Reports for the organization.
- Provide support on funding proposals through reports and statistic tracking that relate to job purview upon request from the Development Team.
- Oversee donation letters, in-kind donations, invitations and follow-ups, and ticketing for the annual gala.
- Assists the Executive Director through support with scheduling and correspondence including with our artist community.
- On-going communication and collaboration with the Operations and Media & Communications Teams as needed.
- Other responsibilities as position and hours allow.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Establish an ongoing weekly work schedule; coordinate and communicate any shifts in weekly schedule with your supervisor.
- Attend weekly Development Meetings and Staff Meetings.
- All staff are required to contribute office coverage support as needed, which includes greeting visitors and fielding phone inquiries.
- All staff are required to periodically attend Movement Research public events and to serve as administrative staff support, including MR discursive events, MR at the Judson Church, and Open Performance.
- All staff are required to participate in the planning and producing of the Movement Research annual gala.
Classes & Workshops Associate
Job Description
The Classes & Workshops Associate will report to the Programs & Events Manager and is responsible for handling daily programming tasks. The Classes & Workshops Associate supports the implementation of MR’s class and workshop schedule, including MELT, and other related programs.
The Classes & Workshops Associate is a part-time, 28 hour/week, hourly position at Movement Research.
- Compensation: $22/hour
- 12 days of paid time off (PTO) annually on an accrual basis.
- Accrued PTO may be used after 3 months of employment.
Schedule: This position is an onsite position 4-5 days per week in the office, with the potential for some remote work. The schedule is determined in collaboration with the Programs and Events Manager and is based on MR’s Classes & Workshops schedule and programming needs. A majority of the hours are scheduled during office hours Monday-Friday between 9am-6pm; the schedule also includes some semi-regular evening and weekend hours.

General Responsibilities:
- Primary point of contact for Class & Workshop participants: respond daily to student questions, process transfers/refunds, communicate pre-class & workshop messages to participants from Teaching Artists;
- Coordinate and implement registration processes for Movement Research Classes & Workshops, including paid, discounted, comp registrations, and manage waiting lists;
- Prep for and on-site implementation of the biannual MELT workshop series, with supervision from the Programs & Events Manager;
- Serve as primary contact for 5-8 seasonal Programs & Events Interns;
- Support hiring process including but not limited to, the review of applications and intern interviews.
- Schedule interns to host in-person and virtual classes and workshops and work with Programs & Events Manager to ensure registrar coverage is found in the case of absence.
- Train interns on registrar duties and responsibilities.
- Communication with Teaching Artists about day-of logistics, in collaboration with Programs & Events Manager, including but not limited to: location information, materials needed in the studio, rosters, health and safety protocols, etc;
- Draft and send Letters of Agreement for all class and workshop Teaching Artists, in collaboration with the Programs & Events Manager;
- Support Programs & Events Manager with communication with partnership artists and organizations as it relates to off-site classes and workshops.
- Create and send feedback forms and post-workshop follow up messages, including MELT workshops;
- Draft and send Letters of Invitation and Participation upon request from class participants;
- Assist in the maintenance of Classes & Workshops information on the website;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking of all Classes & Workshops in the Filemaker database;
- Ongoing communication with the Operations & Finance Team regarding: student payments, refunds, class transfers, studio spaces, and additional facilities maintenance;
- Ongoing communication with the Media & Communications Team relevant to each class/workshop. i.e. edits and feedback for website copy and e-blasts;
- Support of the MELTeen Scholarship program including processing applications, communicating with applicants and scholarship recipients, scheduling, and program implementation during the program activity period.

Movement Research Locations
The Movement Research office and studios are located in the 122 Cultural Center at 150 First Avenue, New York, NY 10009. The second floor office is accessible by elevator. Studios and restrooms are wheelchair accessible; restrooms are all gender.
Judson Memorial Church is located at 55 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012. The accessible entrance is located at 243 Thompson St. and the elevator at Judson Memorial Church is currently working. Personnel from the Judson Memorial Church will be at the entrance. The elevator connects Level 1 (street access) to Level 3 (Meeting Room where performances take place) and Level B or basement (where restrooms are located).
Movement Research classes and workshops take place regularly at MR Studios at 150 First Avenue; Eden’s Expressway at 537 Broadway, Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church 131 East 10th Street; and periodically at additional locations in NYC.
