An 8mm film image of Artist Yara Travieso's full body standing in a woodsy garden with her eyes closed and arms to her side. Collaged rectangular images of Travieso's hands in water or nature are placed over her body almost as a sense of connected care. On Travieso's chest, lives a collaged image of her hand touching a dying black bird. Image by Yara Travieso.

Join the Artists of Color Council for the next Writing Rehearsal: Project Proposals As Connected Practice. This 2 hour hands-on writing & creative workshop is led by artist, Yara Travieso and centers on radical care grant writing practices within the extractive power structures we are far too often beholden to. Artists will receive an overview of resources & links for grant/residency opportunities as well as a hands-on creative writing exploration of project statements that will help you approach grant writing as part of your creative practice and not separate from it. Even in the initial funding stages, we deserve to feel connected rather than depleted & used.

What to expect:
Please come to the workshop with an art project/practice in mind that you are interested in developing and funding. This project can be in any stage of ideation/production. It is recommended to have both a notebook and pen available and/or a computer for writing.

This workshop can be available in Spanish if translation is requested in advance. To request, please email coordinatoraocc@movementresearch.org at least 48 hours in advance.
