In 2024, Movement Research broke ground on the build-out of its two studio spaces located in the 122 Cultural Center, 150 First Avenue, to create:
Two dance studios that will continue to house MR programs, as well as serve artists and the community at subsidized rates for rehearsals, practice and convenings.
A vestibule outside of the studios that will offer a space to gather, stretch, wait and converse that is separated from the building’s general hallway.
Resource Room for MR to provide long-awaited meeting and lounge space for artists, as well as ongoing access to our library.
Community Multipurpose Room designed with and made available to the 122CC tenant and neighborhood organizations, and the broader NYC arts community. This space will be developed in concert with the 122CC Board, including representatives from The Alliance for Positive Change, Mabou Mines, Movement Research, Painting Space 122 and Performance Space New York.
