Each year Movement Research offers our community the opportunity to make a gift towards specific programs that our Gala honorees strongly believe in. We hope that you’ll join our honorees in speaking up and supporting what needs our care and support. It’s just one more way that Movement Research’s Gala facilitates connections amongst our art-loving family, and beyond.

If you are unable to attend the Gala on October 1st, this is a great way to show your support. If you are able to attend and want to make an additional gift, please do! All donations of $500 and above will be acknowledged in the Gala program (if received by September 29th) and on our website.

Join Movement Research on the final journey of making a home for experimental artists in New York City! For 40 years MR was without its own home — rarely having both office and studio space in the same building, with dancers committedly criss-crossing lower Manhattan from Varick Street, Avenue A, Elizabeth Street, Broadway, Washington Square, 10th Street, 19th Street, Avenue C, and more. It took the entire community to bolster this organization over decades; our labor of love to teach one another, learn from one another and dance together. Finally, in January 2019, MR moved into 150 First Avenue, our first long-term home dedicated and committed to supporting movement-based experimental artists. Not a small feat in this city! Now, Movement Research is beginning a Capital Campaign for the final phase of building and making a permanent home for experimental dancers in New York City. Movement Research is building-out its two studio spaces located in the 122 Cultural Center, 150 First Avenue, to create: two dance studios, a vestibule, and a Meeting & Resource Room for Movement Research, as well as a Community Multipurpose Room for the 122 Cultural Center.

The Gala Program will include a listing of the evening’s festivities and supporters and will be distributed at the event to over 300 guests. As an advertiser, your organization or business will also be included on the list of Gala Sponsors with a link to your website.

Join our incredible community of volunteers for the Movement Research 2024 Gala!

We are looking for assistance in the week leading up to the Gala and day-of help in particular, with shifts in the morning, afternoon/evening, and at the event.

In exchange for their help, volunteers get FREE entry to the performance/party portion of the event, which includes an open bar, performances and speeches, and of course, the best dance party of the year! Every person who helps out at our Gala is crucial and deeply appreciated.
