Workshop Description

In this class, I will share my approach to mapping our voices through the energetic pathways of our bodies. My approach is informed by somatic lineages, including contact improvisation and Feldenkrais, that utilize gentle touch as a feedback mechanism for sensing and feeling movement. This workshop is for those who are excited to learn more about the possibilities of a moving-singing body, and for those who don’t yet know how to get started. Through self-touch or partner touch, we will build a map for exploration. We will regard each body as its own expert, making room for doubt and interrogation along the way. How can we amplify and tune our connection to movement, space, and one another through shared vibrations?

My own vocal lineage is informed by my Ashkenazi Jewish identity, in which singing has been a central resource. We each bring different lineages to our vibrational maps. We will meet there, encouraging multiplicity and collective discovery.
